WHAT IS PROJECT ECHO?
Project ECHO is a virtual community of practice that was designed to reduce healthcare disparities for under-served and remote communities. A community of practice is a group of people who come together around a common goal to learn. Through an “all teach, all learn” model, Project ECHO uses case-based learning to support group discussions. Both participants and the interdisciplinary hub of experts, including self-advocates and family advocates, guide discussion and provide mentorship. The goal of ECHO is to increase the confidence of community practitioners and support them in delivering best-in-practice care to their communities.
WHY IT MATTERS TO MY LEARNING
It is an example of an evidence-based practice for building clinical and care capacity in under-served and remote communities and is a proven tool for system change and greater health equity. It is growing in popularity nationally and we want you to experience what ECHO programs are and why they matter.
