Purpose
- the purpose of this module is for LEND trainees to gain insight into the challenges children with hearing loss experience in their self-esteem and self-advocacy and how audiologists can support families and their children in development of skills
Learning Objectives
- trainees will gain understanding of:
- Why self-esteem is “vulnerable” in children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- How audiologist can support families in:
- promoting self-esteem, self-efficacy, self-advocacy in their children
- How audiologists can support:
- development of self-advocacy for use of hearing technology and communication strategies across childhood
- How audiologists can identify:
- advocacy activities that impact children with hearing loss and their families
